Jamie Hansen: Watercolor Art

I want to dwell in the unfinished edges
Why are the edges of my work important? Why do I feel compelled to leave the exposed borders and messy trails of paint around a carefully planned composition? It might be my relationship with my substrate, the paper. Maybe if I leave a little bit exposed, the viewer can sense of the expanse of white that started the work. If I transformed it all, how could I keep celebrating the process?

Why Instruments? Reflections on the variety of reasons why I paint musical instruments.
We are all like instruments playing a carefully arranged composition. I hope to lift my voice up to anyone who will listen and be an instrument of joy and bright color.

Doing Big Things in Anderson!
I’m doing big things in Anderson! Did you see my billboards last week? I was so delighted to have my art displayed on billboards on Clemson Blvd and on North Main Street. Here's how I managed to get my art on a billboard.

Best Christmas gift EVER! (A Watercolor Commission Story)
It was so easy and fun to work with Jamie on my special Christmas gift for my husband. Her creativity and enthusiasm for her work is contagious. My husband declared it the best Christmas gift ever!

An interview with myself.
As I start 2019, I’m imagining an interview with myself - my younger, more fearful self from January 2018 - learning from myself now in January 2019. I have been given these gifts to share - and I intend to change the world with my art.

Announcing my partnership with Bay 3 Gallery!
Bay3 Gallery is located in the Anderson Arts Center next to the downstairs Atrium Gallery. It’s open Tuesday - Saturday and also by appointment. It’s a wonderful Saturday morning destination: shop the farmer’s market next door and then see local art.

2018 Anderson Arts Center Artisan Market Recap
November 29-30, 2018: I had such a great time meeting everyone who came out to the Anderson Art Center's first annual Artisan Market. I was excited to be among the first group of talented artists and makers to set up in the upstairs gallery for the event.
