I painted this viola with grounded, gooseberry color because the viola carries depth and quiet strength. It often supports the harmony without asking for attention, and I wanted to honor that voice. The gooseberry hue is rich and earthy, with subtle undertones of green that reflect the instrument's warmth. I used Arches 300lb hot press paper, which gave me the smooth surface I needed for the detailed brushwork the viola's curves require.
