Bass Trombone in Graphite
Regular price$30.00 Sale price

It’s not a bug, it’s a feature: this bass trombone study was about letting Robert Oster's Graphite fountain pen ink drift, bloom, and splatter under my watercolor.
I've always used waterproof drawing ink so my lines would stay firmly in place beneath the watercolor. A recent course by Nick Stewart helped me reframe that idea and consider the movement of fountain pen ink as part of the art.
On a Saturday morning, it feels lovely to pull out a fountain pen, sketch something quickly, and paint over it that same morning, letting the ink follow the water across the page and resisting the urge to over-engineer it.
