One afternoon in middle school, a friend who played the flute let me try to play. I have always admired the beauty of the instrument, but I'm sure I was terrible. The tall, narrow format of this painting follows the flute's natural form, and the palette moves through warm, saturated colors from top to bottom. There is an exuberance to this piece that I like.
