My sweet son outgrew these shoes. He ripped out one of the bright green insoles before he decided that he just couldn't stand to wear them anymore. I picked them out of the trash can to paint them. So, let's celebrate my memories of him wearing these shoes when he was just a little smaller.
The painting captures the shoes in vivid detail, with the bold red canvas and the distinctive white rubber soles taking center stage. I focused on the texture of the worn fabric and the laces, using a palette of reds, whites, and that bright pop of green from the insole. There is something joyful and a little bittersweet about painting something so ordinary and so personal at the same time.
