Viola in Sunlight

My original painting is 15" x 30" watercolor on board, done from my son's viola in the afternoon sunlight. The gold leaf in the original catches the light in a way that prints can't fully replicate, but the warmth of the palette carries through. The sunlight falling across the instrument creates a natural gradient, from the bright highlights on the upper bout to the deeper amber shadows near the tailpiece.
