Snare with Shadow Violet is an original watercolor and ink painting of a snare drum, created on 300 lb Arches hot press watercolor paper.
This piece combines traditional watercolor with my new Jackman's crystalline powdered watercolor. I used related pigments throughout so the granulating color, "sprayed" texture, and painted passages would feel connected rather than chaotic. The result is a bright, atmospheric drum study with turquoise hardware, warm orange tones, and shadowy violet-blue movement throughout.
The original painting measures 9" x 9". Available as the original artwork or as an 8" x 8" fine art print. Original ships unframed.
