Flugelhorn in Rose Mist

This luminous flugelhorn glows in layered rose, ultramarine, and violet washes, with colors that separate and mingle across the page.

After my first attempt failed, I stepped back and let this second painting become a conversation with the pigments, allowing the colors to break apart into something more than they appeared in the tube.
